The Battle Plan

Take the field in style with the signature Infantry Baseball black and gold.

Your Coaches

Building character and skills in young ballplayers, on and off the field.

Eric Weiss

Director of Baseball Ops

Coach Eric spent 5 years in the Marine Corps as a Machine Gunner in the Infantry. After serving he received his Masters Degree from Iona University. Having 2 decades in the game of baseball as a player and coach, he has had the pleasure of training several of the coaches on our staff through their high school careers and has several athletes currently playing college baseball.

Matt Farrell

Pitching/Hitting Coach

A Varsity-level pitcher and infielder, Matt leads as both hitting and pitching coach, offering athletes a complete and balanced training experience. He focuses on building strong fundamentals at the plate—improving swing efficiency, pitch recognition, and situational hitting—while also developing pitchers through proper mechanics, arm care routines, and strategic mound presence.

Spencer Makarewicz

Pitching/Hitting Coach

Spencer, brings his Collegiate-level experience as one of Infantry’s hitting and pitching coaches, bringing a well-rounded, detail-driven approach to player development. With a strong understanding of mechanics, timing, and arm care, he builds consistent swings, increase bat speed, and develop confidence at the plate, while also refining pitching fundamentals, command, and velocity.

Josiah saladyga

Hitting/Catching Coach

Josiah serves as Infantry’s hitting and catching coach, bringing valuable college-level playing experience and a deep understanding of the game. He works with athletes to develop consistent, powerful swings while emphasizing approach, pitch recognition, and situational awareness at the plate. Behind the dish, he focuses on defensive fundamentals, such as receiving, blocking, footwork, and game management.

Bill Brakeley

Pitching Coach

• 3x All State HS pitcher in Delaware at St. Andrew’s School.
• All Conference pitcher for ‘89 Univ. of Delaware baseball team
• 4th rd draft choice in ‘89 by Milwaukee Brewers
• Compiled a 12-7 minor league record over 3 injury plagued seasons
• Head Coach - Freshman and JV at New Canaan for 7 years
• College basketball at NAIA Wilmington University and went to national tournament in Nampa, Idaho in ‘94.
•Inducted into Delaware baseball coaches association Hall of Fame 2023

Trooper

The Infantry Service Dog

Trooper, the official Infantry Service Dog and part-time youth baseball coach, brings unmatched energy to the field—especially when snacks are involved. Specializing in “ruff” fundamentals, Trooper is known for chasing down overthrown balls (whether asked to or not), offering motivational tail wags in the dugout, and maintaining strict supervision of all post-game treats. As a hitting consultant, he believes in a simple approach: see ball, fetch ball. On defense, his range is impressive, though he occasionally struggles with the “drop it” command. When he’s not coaching, he’s hard at work boosting team morale and reminding players that every great inning deserves a belly rub.
